This is NOT Farewell…

Last week I shared with you some BIG news as well as revealed the greatest killer to your success. Today, it is apropos that I turn over the reigns on the issue themed personal development and include a clip from my mentor, the man who started me on my grand personal development journey, Mr. Jim Rohn.

Conquering Connections pt 2

Now a question I hear a lot of people ask is how do you network if you are an introvert? Well, you asked the right guy.

You might be surprised to learn that I am mostly an introvert. I self-describe myself as an extroverted introvert, meaning I rise to the occasion when I need to be extroverted, but otherwise I am naturally introverted. This has also been termed an ambivert defined as: normally comfortable with groups and enjoys social interaction, but also relishes time alone and away from the crowd.

My mentor Jim Rohn put it best when he said, “I’m a very private person living a very public life.” That’s me too!

When you’d ask Jim what he was after, what he was striving for, he’d answer, “Quiet and solitude.” I certainly get my rest and recovery the same way.

In fact, whether you know it or not, most of the super-successful people I have met fit the description of an ambivert... CONTINUE TO POST

Practice Doesn’t Make Perfect

Last week I shared with you an incredible example of success in development through the story of Clyde’s several reinventions. This week, to equip you for your own epic journey, I want to challenge you to attack the idea of deliberate practice. This is really the action plan for mastery in any endeavor you wish to excel at.

My interview with K. Anders Ericsson proved that so-called “gifted”, “talented” or “experts” aren’t people with freakish natural abilities in a particular domain. Experts, have become so, only by maintaining high-levels of practice, over a long sustained period of time and improving their performance along the way.

In other words, it’s not about what you’re born with.
It’s about how consistently and deliberately you can work to improve yourself.

Now, let’s be candid, ... CONTINUE READING

Break the Shackles (Pt 2 of 2)

Last week I discussed the harsh reality that you are not free until you are debt-free.
To continue our theme on financial freedom, I want to give you my 3 key steps to finally breaking the financial shackles that might be restraining your freedom.

I was taught early on that if you can’t afford it in cash, you can’t have it, period.

I use a credit card primarily for tracking and mileage reward incentives, but it is completely paid for each cycle.

I never revolve credit. That’s a fool’s game... GO TO POST

Break the Shackles (Pt 1 of 2)

This week I want to focus on the topic of financial freedom.
Because let’s face it, most of us are NOT financially free.

Let me cut right to it: if you are in debt you are enslaved.

You might not like that statement, but unfortunately it’s true.

If anyone has claim to you by way of debt, you don’t own your own life and destiny... CONTINUE TO POST

Conquer Your Stress (Pt 2 of 2)

Last week I introduced you to two ways in which you can conquer the negative side of stress once and for all. To continue on our path to make you a conquistador of chronic stress, let me give you the final remaining steps. Here we go!

Number three: Don't be a blowhard!
You are NOT unique. You are not the only one to experience stress, difficulty, frustration and painful experiences. What happens to you happens to ALL of us. There is no conspiracy against only you. You are not God's little guinea pig or the laboratory rat of the universe.

We ALL experience hurt, disappointment, heartache, loss, failure, sadness, misfortune, setback, defeat, distress, despondency, despair or whatever else is causing you stress. Whatever you feel so uniquely victimized by, millions of other people have also experienced it, and likely much worse.

Something I remember learning from Jim Rohn goes something like this... CLICK TO READ MORE

Conquer Your Stress (Pt 1 of 2)

Chronic stress is linked to the six leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide. And more than 75 percent of all physician office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints.

Just in case death doesn’t get your attention, stress also makes you fat, old and stupid.

Chronic stress affects your brain, suppresses your thyroid, causes blood sugar imbalances, decreases bone density and muscle tissue, raises blood pressure, reduces your immunity and ability to heal, and increases fat deposits around your abdomen.

So essentially, you’ll want to pay attention to this BLOG or you might die, or at the least live miserably—fat, dumb and ugly. ;)

So now that I (hopefully!) have your attention, let me give you a half-dozen ways to conquer the negative side of stress once and for all... CLICK TO CONTINUE

6 Ways to Disrupt Yourself & Grow Your Business

Last week I introduced you to the ultimate business breaker and disrupter. As promised, today I will outline six ways you can consider disrupting yourself and your business.

When I think of a company that has repeatedly disrupted itself and as a result has withstood the test of time and continues to thrive to the tune of $33 billion dollars a year 165 years later, American Express comes to mind. American Express was founded as an express shipping company much like FedEx is today. Though it was only supposed to last for 10 years and then be dissolved, it was too profitable. So the partners simply created a new company around the name, and continued on, business as usual... READ MORE

If It Ain’t Broke, Break It (before someone else does!)

I have a fair warning for you today: Your business model will be broken.
It’s not if, it’s only when. You can’t stop it; you have no choice in the matter. The only choice you have is who gets to break it.

Destroyers will come out of nowhere—out of your competitor’s skunk works lab, from a pizza and Red Bull fueled college dorm room or from an upstart founded in some remote city in the world you’ve never even heard of before.

The destroyer’s weapon of choice? Technology... CLICK TO READ MORE
