Fear Not!

There is a Japanese proverb, “Fear is only as deep as the mind allows.”

Fear while an instinctual part of each and every one of us, should not control us or drive our actions, except in the case of extreme danger like being attacked by a shark or other such creatures. Obvious right?

Then why do so many let fear, some knowingly and most unknowingly drive their daily actions and limit the life they can lead? Well, it doesn’t limit everyone.

Torre DeRoche suffers from Selachophobia, or what she fondly has renamed Horriblehorriblesharkydeathphobia. This is merely one among many of her fears when it comes to the ocean.

Yet in her mid-twenties, she agreed to embark on an adventure that would mean sailing across the Pacific Ocean and facing every single one of those maritime related fears head on... GO TO POST

How to Build A Billion-Dollar Business

want tell you how to build a Billion-Dollar Business.
Oh, you don’t think you are capable or qualified to build a billion dollar business?
Well that thought is incorrect.

You see, success is an equal opportunist.
Success is blind to things like gender, age, race and especially background.
Some of the wealthiest and most successful people you know or have heard of come from a background filled with hardships and even poverty.

That’s the American Dream, right?
Start with nothing, end with everything you could possibly dream of. There are quite a few examples of people I could pinpoint who have lived the American Dream and left their mark on the world, most you have probably heard of. This is one you might not be as familiar with... CONTINUE READING

Conquering Connecting pt 1

“Everyone looks so much better when they smile.”
That is a quote from Jimmy Fallon, who you now know of as the host of the legendary “The Tonight Show.”

What a meteoric ride that guy has had to the top?
How did he do it?
How did Jimmy, son of an IBM machine repairman, get to the chair once occupied by maybe the most legendary figure in comedy TV for 30 years straight, Johnny Carson? Oh yeah, the same chair Jay Leno sat for 20 years too.

He did it through... CLICK TO CONTINUE

How to Attack Deliberate Practice: 4 steps

Last week I shared an example of deliberate practice through the story of Kobe Bryant and his insane work ethic. Now before you can attack this idea of deliberate practice, let me help further define it for you so you know how.

Deliberate practice is a highly structured and highly engaged activity with the specific goal of improving performance. Deliberate practice is different from work, play and simple repetition of a task. It requires effort and it is not necessarily inherently enjoyable. When you engage in deliberate practice, improving your performance over time is your goal and motivation.

That’s not to say that deliberate practice can’t be designed to be fun, but it isn’t inherently enjoyable on its own. If you want to gain skills rapidly or approach expert-level status at something, you must understand the importance of deliberate practice and learn how to incorporate it into your daily process.

Now let me give you the steps to attacking deliberate practice... CONTINUE TO POST

The Epic Odyssey

The entrepreneur journey is usually an epic odyssey--one YOU can succeed at as Clyde is going to prove, no matter how old (or young) or your prior experience (failure or lack thereof).

I recently visited a local California farmers’ market and met Clyde, the owner of the Desert Olive Farms booth. Clyde looks like your quintessential cowboy; but as we talked I got the sense that this guy had seen more than just a few rodeos.

Like many of the great masters of reinvention, Clyde started early... CONTINUE TO POST

Break the Shackles (Pt 2 of 2)

Last week I discussed the harsh reality that you are not free until you are debt-free.
To continue our theme on financial freedom, I want to give you my 3 key steps to finally breaking the financial shackles that might be restraining your freedom.

I was taught early on that if you can’t afford it in cash, you can’t have it, period.

I use a credit card primarily for tracking and mileage reward incentives, but it is completely paid for each cycle.

I never revolve credit. That’s a fool’s game... GO TO POST

Break the Shackles (Pt 1 of 2)

This week I want to focus on the topic of financial freedom.
Because let’s face it, most of us are NOT financially free.

Let me cut right to it: if you are in debt you are enslaved.

You might not like that statement, but unfortunately it’s true.

If anyone has claim to you by way of debt, you don’t own your own life and destiny... CONTINUE TO POST
